Dos Tierras means Two Lands, reflecting the sources of the two amazing fibers found in this ultra-soft yarn. By spinning together 50% of our fine Uruguayan Merino wool with 50% baby alpaca from Peru we have created a DK weight yarn that is as versatile as it is beautiful. And when we combine the good stitch definition and drape of this four-ply yarn with our amazing kettle-dyed semi-solid and variegated colors you have the perfect palette to help show off your stitch work.
Great for: Accessories and hand-wash-friendly garments, next-to-skin wear, lace, cables, color-work, and textured stitches.
Be sure to get enough yarn to complete your project since each bag is a different dye lot, and skeins may vary from bag to bag. Skeins may vary one from the other even within the same bag. To ensure random color distribution, work from two balls of yarn at once, alternating a few rows from each ball.
When malabrigo dyes their yarns, the same formula is used each time, but every batch of yarn is assigned a different dye lot number. The differences from one dye lot to another can be very subtle, or extremely noticeable, especially on variegated yarns. When malabrigo assigns a dye lot number the main use is to identify which skeins can be labeled and packed together. After their quality control team checks the skeins, they go to the labeling section and then are put in bags of five or ten (depending on the yarn). Once the bags get to our store, sometimes skeins go to different shelves where they may get mixed up. The dye lot code is really helpful when you try to find skeins that match.
The colors shown on photos are illustrated as reference, as mentioned above, they can differ on more or less of one tone, due to the hand-dyed process.
Color Disclaimer
We do our best to ensure that our photos are as true to color as possible. However, due to inconsistencies of various monitors, lighting sources, digital photography, and dye lot variations, we cannot guarantee that the color you see on your screen accurately portrays the true color of the product. Screen images are intended as a guide only and should not be regarded as absolutely accurate.
Note: Just because products have the same color name that does not mean they are the same exact color. Also, don’t mistake the color name to be what you may think that color should be. Example, just because a color may have the name Brick, it does not mean it will necessarily look like what most people would consider being a Brick color.
